The class was organized and easy to follow. Office hours were really helpful.

The course content is fine if you study and go to other resources for help, but the teaching style isn't great.

I didnt like the pace of the class in person, i was always lost during lectures, until i started only watching the recordings of lectures which helped a lot. I would set the recording to 2x speed and pause during examples which made it much easier to understand what was going on. His slides were also posted on canvas which was useful.

He drops the lowest 2 assignments and gives practice midterms that are similar to the actual exams.

For his first quarter teaching ever, he did a good job at teaching Math 31B. However, I was irritated at how the homework was graded for correctness instead of completion because the questions that were chosen were sometimes questions that required us to prove a formula or to prove that we need an assumption. This added unnecessary stress to this class and it wasn't that relevant to the problems on the midterm and the final. I used the textbook at times to understand some concepts because the way he explained them was confusing to me. I think I definitely could've ended with a B had I not made stupid mistakes on the midterms and finals. Overall, he has the potential to be a great professor once he has finished some quarters and knows what works and what doesn't, and I hope he just chooses more homework problems that more resemble what he does on the midterm and final instead of proofs.

Having taken Calc BC in high school, most of the material was already covered so I felt as if I had a solid base understanding of the content covered in the class. However, I felt as if Haoren at times did make understanding the material more challenging than need be with his style of teaching. His lectures were very organized, with easy-to-read notes that were easy to follow, but his delivery often felt short as he often used textbook terminology to describe the concepts instead of truly making them easier to understand. Despite his shortcomings as a lecturer, I truly do believe that he wants his students to excel in the class as if you need help with any of the homework problems, he is more than happy to go through them during his office hours.

I thought that Haoren's midterms and final were reasonable and were of comparable difficulty to homework problems and the practice midterms. I received a 82% on the first midterm, a 91% on the second one, and a 90% on the final and ended up with an A, so all in all, as long as you fully understand the homework problems and attend office hours as need be, you'll be able to find success in this class.

I took 31a with this professor and really enjoyed it. However, 31b felt much more rushed in comparison to the prior course. I would recommend to stay ahead of the work as to not fall behind as it is much faster paced. Professor leaves lectures posted online and also posts the slides which is helpful for review.

Overall pretty easy if you took IB math AA HL in high school.
