Introduction to Medical Clinical Research

Seminar, one hour. Students gain understanding of history, ethics, and methodology behind medical clinical trials. Previous knowledge of research or statistics not required. Open to undergraduate students with interest in medical clinical research. Introduction of scientific method and brief history of clinical trials. In wake of large COVID-19 clinical trials started during pandemic, exposure to clinical trials interest in clinical research has dramatically increased. Acknowledging increasing relevance of clinical research in daily life, students are encouraged to relate information learned to current world events and personal experience. P/NP grading.
