Archaeology: Introduction
Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour; one field trip. Required as preparation for both bachelor's degrees. General survey of field and laboratory methods, theory, and major findings of anthropological archaeology, including case-study guest lectures presented by several campus archaeologists. Grade based on 4 essays written throughout the quarter (each 20%) and mandatory discussion (also worth 20%). Optional final to replace one essay grade if student desires. Discussion was a breeze and super fun actually. Prof. Smith is a great and engaging lecturer!
