Data Analysis for Social and Cultural Research

Seminar, three hours. Requisite: course 101 or consent of instructor. Data analysis and statistical methods tailored for students in humanities and social sciences, with focus on topics and issues related to social justice. Study of descriptive and inferential statistics as applied in humanistic research. Consideration of how to generate evidence-based, statistically sound arguments, applying methods learned throughout the course to a collaborative project. Students learn statistical methods, R Studio environment and language, and how to communicate their arguments in cogent narratives supported by evidence. Letter grading.
