Critical Refugee Studies
Lecture, three hours. Requisite: course 10, 10W, 20, 20W, 30, 30W, 40, 40W, 50, or 50W. Examination of how refugees are represented in government and popular media, and how refugees represent themselves through cultural production. Rather than focus on refugee as victim, study centers refugee as subject of knowledge production for critical analyses of war, empire, militarism, and human rights. P/NP or letter grading.
