Reviews
Overall interesting and low-stress class with an engaging professor. The class is split into three sections with films from Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea, respectively. Most of the films are not very scary, except for "Ringu" and "A Tale of Two Sisters" in my opinion (but I didn't watch them all). I think the professor tries to choose films that are palatable to most people (no over-the-top gore or anything). He also provides content warnings.
The grading is distributed over three short responses (500 words) and one final paper (around 2 pages). No major exams, but there are quizzes based on the lectures and basic plot points of the required screenings. Also participation is required, so you have to go to discussion sections.
