Sociology of Gender
(Same as Sociology M162.) Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Enforced requisite: course 10 or Sociology 1. Examination of processes by which gender is socially constructed. Topics include distinction between biological sex and sociological gender, causes and consequences of gender inequality, and recent changes in gender relations in modern industrial societies. P/NP or letter grading.
