Advanced Social Welfare Practice: Cognitive-Behavioral Theories and Methods

Lecture, two and one half hours; outside study, nine hours. Corequisite: required social work practicum. Advanced-level, critical analysis of key contributors, essential concepts, core theories, current controversies, and recent research findings in contemporary cognitive-behavioral therapy; case conceptualization from cognitive-behavioral perspective; specific cognitive and behavioral assessment methods and intervention techniques and their typical applications; contextual considerations, including human diversity and other sociocultural and developmental factors, in arriving at case conceptualizations and treatment plans. S/U or letter grading.
