Geospatial Imagery Analysis

Lecture, two hours; laboratory, two hours. Requisite: course 401. Introduction to field of remote sensing and image analysis, primarily involving environmental monitoring and Earth observation from space. Core concepts in remote sensing, processes by which images are captured by sensors mounted on remote platforms including satellites and airplanes, and key characteristics of captured imagery. Project-based instruction in techniques for processing, analyzing, and visualizing remotely sensed imagery and raster data with proprietary, open-source, and cloud-based remote sensing and image analysis platforms. Letter grading.
