Synthesis and analysis of compounds; purification by extraction, chromatography, recrystallization, and sublimation; characterization by mass spectroscopy, UV, NMR, and IR spectroscopy, optical activity, electrochemistry, pH titration. P/NP or letter grading.

    As long as you are very thorough with your lab reports you will be fine. Doing the experiment is not really what you are being graded for, though there was a TA that docked points off if you did the experiment wrong. Just be sure to understand each step of the experiment which is covered in the lectures. Very straight forward class.
