Environmental Justice and Climate Change

Lecture, three hours. Designed for juniors/seniors. Examination of environmental quality and social justice. Premise that all people have right to live in clean environment and access resources to sustain health and livelihood. Investigation of under what conditions some people are denied this basic right and how some have fought back. Consideration of how certain groups of people experience effects of pollution or environmental hazards more than others, or lack basic resources; what social relations of production and power that contribute to these outcomes are; and how people have organized to demand environmental justice.
