Lecture, three hours. Survey of contemporary Southeast Asian American communities and examination of conditions that led to migration of almost two million people from Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam with close attention to history of U.S. imperialism and Cold War politics. Screening of fiction and nonfiction films by and/or about Southeast Asian refugees. P/NP or letter grading.
