The course reader is required, but it is extremely helpful. The lectures provide more information that the course reader, so reading and attending is recommended.

Professor Esdin has a great sense of humor and is very understanding of student's special situations. The Course reader is extremely beneficial to the quizzes and tests, because some questions are tied to the Course Reader only and not the lecture. It is also a practical class as we get to learn about diet and health.

Honestly, this class was really amazing. I would highly recommend this class to almost every student coming to UCLA. It is remarkably easy and covers what I would consider to be important information for general biology and health. It also really opens your eyes to the types of things that we put into our body and our current physical levels of fitness. Would highly recommend!

I took this course with my two roommates for fun, and it turned out to be a delightful educational foray into topics I'd never been exposed to in nutrition and health. Exams and quizzes are easy, lectures are mandatory but engaging, there's no homework, and the life assessment project is simple and may be helpful to improving your general health and outlook on health.

Since taking this course, my diet has improved substantially and I am now more aware of the importance of taking care of my health. Just for that I'd recommend taking this, especially with friends.

This class is really nice if you need to fulfill your life science ge. It isn't that hard and if you just go to class and do the iclickers that should be enough to do well in the class. You should be alright to focus on your major classes and just have this as a side class.
