very good instructor, always spoke clearly and cares about his students, make sure to study early and go to office hours
He does such a great job connecting our work to a real life application and keeping the class engaging yet informative. His slides tell you everything you need to know and promote understanding over memorization.
the professor is passionate and will answer your questions clearly during lecture. like most classes, if you attend lecture, you will do good on the exams. this professor cares about his students and wants them to do good so even if you don't go to ALL lectures, when the midterms/finals come up, going to lecture and asking questions will help you immensely. the homework is tedious but ultimately, helpful. you'll do good If you want to do good.
Jukka was nice and a cool guy, but his lectures were confusing sometimes. The content was also a bit confusing itself. His exams were harder than the other LS30B classes, so if you want easier exams, take another professor.
arguably best professor for this class. very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. In other words, you get out what you put in
Instructor is very clear and engaging, easy to follow along and knows how to keep your attention. He’s funny and the class can be lenient with deadlines if you need an extension due to illness etc. Labs can be stressful when you don’t know where to start, but the TAs are helpful. Participation is done through iClicker.
LS 30B is a really great class, but for me, the concepts were much harder than LS 30A, mainly because it has linear algebra. However, Jukka is a great teacher, and if you pay attention you will do well in the class. The labs are tedious, but not too difficult, and the final group project at the end of the quarter is not bad at all. Midterms and finals are very reasonable, just study from the practice midterms and finals that Jukka has.
