(Same as Chicana/o and Central American Studies M129 and Labor Studies M129.) Lecture, four hours. Students are trained in designing, drafting, piloting, and administering new survey focused on transitions to adulthood. Written in collaboration with labor and community partners serving Latinx, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Black, and Indigenous youth and low-wage workers, this survey gathers data on workforce development, labor rights, education, health, mental health, and civic engagement of young people residing in Black, Indigenous, and people of color communities. Students are exposed to historical development of racial statistics, role of racial statistics in contemporary life, and critical quantitative science. Includes testing questions on racial identity and attitudes, gender identity, workforce development, labor rights, healing and wellness, and other topics determined by labor and community partners.
