Introduction to Data Mining
Lecture, four hours; discussion, two hours; outside study, six hours. Enforced requisite: course 143. Introductory survey of data mining (process of automatic discovery of patterns, changes, associations, and anomalies in massive databases), knowledge engineering, and wide spectrum of data mining application areas such as bioinformatics, e-commerce, environmental studies, financial markets, multimedia data processing, network monitoring, and social service analysis. Letter grading.
