Reviews
The lectures for this class were in person but broadcasted via zoom live as well to accommodate as many students as possible. The exams were all open-note and online. The lectures were very well-organized and informative in terms of what questions showed up on quizzes and exams. All in all, I would highly recommend taking this course with professor Sagasti if you have the chance!
Sagasti is great at lecturing and spends plenty of time on both methods and papers. The exams are open-book take-home exams where you can spend as much time as you want over a few days to write and work on the exam. The questions are about interpreting papers we read in class and the methods we cover. Even if they are open-book, they are still pretty difficult and you need a good understanding of the papers. We also had quizzes nearly every week in discussion that were stressful because you don't get much time to complete and submit them. Overall, this class with Sagasti is not too bad if you do the work and put in the effort to understand the papers and material.
