(Same as Political Science M152.) Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour (when scheduled). Requisite: course 1. Exploration of how governments at international, national, and regional levels are addressing--or not addressing--extraordinary challenge of climate change. Use of combination of readings, lectures, and discussions to better understand causes, consequences, and policies to address most important political problem of our time--not just in U.S., but in other major countries as well. Concentration on challenge of mitigating, rather than adapting to, climate change; and concentration on energy use, rather than agriculture, forestry, and land use. Letter grading.
