You''ll have to teach yourself for the most part. The best thing about Suh is that he curved the class incredibly. I did pretty averagely in the class (hovered around or just above the median) and obtained an A as my final grade. To be fair, I didn't work nearly as hard as I could, and skipped almost every lecture from weeks 4 to 10, because I hated the class and felt a piece of my soul die every single time he started to speak. He's an incredibly unclear and disorganized lecturer, and seemed to exhibit the behavior of someone who didn't care about his students (often not answering emails and being petty about students' questions and concerns about the class). He's pretty awful, but his curve makes up for it.
The class was quite difficult but doable because of the massive curve - the lowest grade you could get was I believe a C+, and around a third of the class got an A. It was Professor Suh's first quarter teaching, so his lack of experience was understandable.
I couldn't pay attention at all in lecture because he stares at the whiteboard for ten minutes at a time, after which he looks back at the confounded students and asks, "any questions?" and of course we have none because we've either lost focus or can't even begin to fathom or form questions about the material. This cycle continues until class ends, and as a result, I personally found that I would learn nothing from lecture. Though, some of the questions on the midterm and final were specifically drawn from class examples, so it's still a good idea to attend and snap photos of the problems.
Thankfully, Professor Suh is a kind and understanding person - he not only tells you which class examples will be on the exam, but also helps out a lot during office hours. And that massive curve really alleviates the stress. I wouldn't recommend taking him, but if he's the only option then it's not the end of the world.
