Overall, a fun and easy GE to take. The lectures were interesting but weren't essential to attend. They did help answer the questions for the midterm. There were assigned readings, but you didn't really need to read them, only to use them to cite in your midterm.
Details
- Weekly journals (super short, just reflecting on what you learned in the past week)
- One midterm where we answered a few short questions on the material
- A final paper on the music in a movie of your choice
- A final assessment where we answered one long question
I love the material, and the professor is great!
Easy G.E, the content was interesting. A great class to take when you have a heavy courseload
This was the easiest GE I've taken so far. Dr. Replogle was a really engaging lecturer, but you don't need to go to lecture to do well in the class. The essays were also graded very leniently and not hard to write at all.
Great class. Interesting material. Recommend
I loved having this class as my last GE. Even though it was online (apart from the discussion sections), I felt very engaged with the material and wanting to actually pay attention. If you don't watch the movies then it's not the end of the world, just make sure you read a summary of it and watch the clips that she puts up in class.
The essay that we had to write for our final i would 100% recommend actually starting when they say to start because it is a really big paper. They give deadlines to assist you but try and be proactive with it so that you're not rushing to finish it by the end of the quarter.
I received the grade I expected as they actually post the grades in this class on the Canvas site, and the while it's not really extra credit you do have to make sure you read the syllabus and do a short quiz on that.
We had weekly journal reading assignments we had to do and you're allowed to miss two of them (if i remember correctly) and so make sure that you plan out which ones you want to do and which ones you don't.
