Materials Science of Semiconductors
Lecture, four hours; discussion, one hour; outside study, seven hours. Enforced requisite: course 120. Structure and properties of elemental and compound semiconductors. Electrical and optical properties, defect chemistry, and doping. Electronic materials analysis and characterization, including electrical, optical, and ion-beam techniques. Heterostructures, band-gap engineering, development of new materials for optoelectronic applications. Letter grading.
