Reviews
Took this class during COVID-19 remote instruction. The class is heavily reading oriented. Make sure to do the reading well. Weekly reading are 50 pages on average. The midterm and final are 5-page essays. The response need to be based off from the reading which requires citation. The instructor knows the subject well and drives the lecture through discussion. You have to write a 2-page response for reading every week.
The content of the class was an introduction to contradictions in Chinese politics in post-Mao era. Heavy emphasis in Deng Xiaoping’s era. If you are not interested in this topic, the class might be a bit dry. I enjoyed it though :)
Very interactive lectures, I really enjoyed learning about Chinese politics overall.
