Lecture, three hours. Requisite: course 214A. Cohomology of coherent sheaves. Flat morphisms, smooth morphisms. Riemann-Roch theorem for curves. Projective embeddings of curves, elliptic curves, canonical embedding. Introduction to birational geometry in higher dimensions. S/U or letter grading.
