If you need an interesting upper division choose this class! Professor Brantingham is an incredibly engaging lecturer and is encouraging of questions. The class consists of a different combination of 4 quizzes, an essay, or a final. Each quiz is worth 25 points while the final and paper are worth 50. You only have to attempt 100 points i.e. all 4 quizzes, 2 quizzes and the final or paper etc.
The lectures were very well prepared and written. However, when it comes to the quizzes that we had to do for the class (4 total, not including the final exam), there were questions on the quizzes that weren't mentioned during the lecture at all. There were holes and gaps within the topics and it was stuff you were gonna have to search up and learn about yourself. The class grading is also a 1:1 ratio with your points and percentage (aka. if you lost 1 point on an assignment, you already lost 1% in the class) and there is no extra credit and no arguing grades. The professor is nice though and has a passion for the subject and you can see that.
