Lecture, four hours; outside study, eight hours. Requisite: course 102A. Principles of non-Newtonian fluid mechanics. Stress constitutive equations. Rheology of polymeric liquids and dispersed systems. Applications in viscometry, polymer processing, biorheology, oil recovery, and drag reduction. Letter grading.
