City to Self: The Story of Heat in the Societal Landscape of Los Angeles

Seminar, one hour. Examination of the intersectional impacts of heat and its effects on the community. Exploration from macro to micro scale, considering broader environmental and community trends to effects on individuals. Emphasis on specific environments, communities, and individuals most vulnerable to impacts of heat and climate in Los Angeles. Exploration of impacts of this issue through understanding climate science, and current and historical events and policies. Analysis of complexities of climate change and demonstration of how heat influences life in direct and indirect ways. P/NP grading. Facilitated by Ashwin Vasudevan, with Bharat J.
