Seminar, one hour. Evaluation of love hormone, oxytocin, and its context within various aspects of life--ranging from birth to death. Exploration of biochemical components and pathways involved in romantic love, platonic love, sexual responses, heartbreak, attraction, lust, childbirth, parental attachment, sex differences, cardiovascular disease, and mental health. Discussions focus on disruptions to typical oxytocin functionalities as well as their consequences on health and society. Includes research articles and documentaries. Culminates in group final presentation evaluating a clinical study, involving ongoing research on oxytocin for therapeutic and/or medical use. Suitable for all majors. P/NP grading.
