Seminar, one hour. Examination of telenovela genre popularity in Latin America. Exploration of genre development in Mexico and analysis of the cultural phenomenon and impact on the region through a sociopolitical lens. Focus on evolution of the genre from radio shows to comic-book-like fotonovelas to the daily television show. Analysis of how the telenovela has been used as a method of cultural diffusion and reflects the values of a nation.
