Lecture, three hours; discussion, two hours. Enforced requisite: course 1A with grade of C or better or Chinese placement test. First-year Chinese. Not open to students who have learned, from whatever source, enough Chinese to qualify for more advanced courses. Continuation of course 1A. P/NP or letter grading.
