Five-week course. Lecture, two hours; laboratory, one hour. Greater emphasis on graphic presentation and visual communication to educate stakeholders, advocate for change, and encourage participation in planning process in recent years, in both public and private sector. Visual communication requires analytic skills and strategic thinking, strong foundation in design theory, and technical skills in computer programs. Introduction to Adobe InDesign and Illustrator and foundation in design theory and communication. How to use graphic design and presentation programs to create attractive and powerful planning materials and reports, design principles to communicate ideas in clear, succinct, and engaging manner, and when and how to use graphic materials to support verbal presentations or written reports. Letter grading.
