Lecture, three hours. Introduction to scientific foundations of psycholinguistics, and connections to applied issues in communication. Survey of various scientific methods, and how they are applied to key issues in language and communication. Discussion of how we can measure meanings of words, complexity of sentences, and study of how these are processed (and produced) during communication. Includes some hands-on exercises, including learning some scientific tools that can be used both in future research and in field. Letter grading.
