Seminar, three hours; outside study, nine hours. Close reading and analysis of classic and contemporary studies of performance and related aesthetic practices. Familiarization with ways in which performance is defined and deployed by scholars working in disciplines of anthropology, dance, folklore, linguistics, literature, musicology, performance studies, philosophy, sociology, and theater.
