Roman Rhetoric
Seminar, three hours. Close study of one rhetorical text (e.g., "Rhetorica ad Herennium," Cicero's "de Oratore," Seneca's "Controversiae" or "Suasoriae," Quintilian's "Institutio"), with attention to its place in rhetorical tradition. May be repeated for credit with topic change. S/U (2-unit course) or letter (4-unit course) grading.
