Computational Solid Mechanics
Lecture, four hours; outside study, eight hours. Requisite: course 235B. Advanced finite element and meshfree methods for computational solid mechanics. Stability and consistency in temporal discretization of parabolic and hyperbolic systems. Analysis of numerical dissipation and dispersion. Multifield variational principles for constrained problems. Meshfree methods: approximation theories, Galerkin meshfree methods, collocation meshfree methods, imposition of boundary conditions, domain integration, stability. Letter grading.
