Karney is such an engaging lecturer. He always gave me a jump scare at the beginning of class when he yelled but it's so clear how knowledgeable and how much he enjoys the content. Your grade is a 50 question midterm, 30 pt paper (easy) and 50 question final. No extra credit. He gives you a study guide of the terms but you have to study beyond the definitions. On exams, there'd sometimes be scenarios that you'd have to apply concepts to. The content during lecture is super interesting but I felt like to prepare for the exam, I had to do a lot of review on my own. Very rewarding class though.

The book is extremely important, it covers everything and you'll do well on the exams if you read it. Only two midterms and short paper. Karney is an amazing professor with engaging lectures and lots of knowledge on the topic of intimate relationships.

I loved Professor Karney, he is so engaging and personable with his students!! The course content is super interesting and relevant. The only caveat is that he made us buy the newest version of his textbook, which was over $100 and you end up reading the entire textbook by the end of the course. The textbook reading is even more important than the lecture content. Midterm and final were challenging but doable and the final essay was an easy A. Overall, even though the textbook reading is a lot, I would recommend taking this class for the professor and the content.
