Lecture, three hours. Enforced requisite: course 100C or Chinese 110C or Korean placement test. Reading in premodern Koryo and Choson texts on politics, society, and culture. Coverage varies. Texts may be read in either Sino-Korean or literary Chinese. May be repeated with consent of instructor. P/NP or letter grading.
