Lecture, three hours. Recommended preparation: prior course on Buddhism or traditional Asian religions. Knowledge of Asian languages not required. Readings from variety of Buddhist literature of Indic and non-Indic origin, with emphasis on key Buddhist themes and critical issues in cross-cultural interpretations of Asian religious texts. Letter grading.
