Lecture, three hours. Interdisciplinary examination of role that war has played in history and culture of Asian Americans, drawing on diverse set of materials ranging from Asian American literature, Hollywood movies, and wartime propaganda to political speeches, Supreme Court decisions, and protest culture, to evaluate relationship between Asian American communities and geopolitical conflicts from late-19th century to contemporary period.
