Reconsideration of U.S. exceptionalist approach to national self-understanding by rethinking crucial aspects of American history in more international context that goes well beyond foreign relations and international affairs to reconceptualize aspects of American economic, intellectual, cultural, and social history. Consideration of transnational flows of people, ideas, goods, wealth, and politics, as well as comparative studies of all these things and more. P/NP or letter grading.
