Study of how popular Bollywood cinema materializes colonial and postcolonial formations pertaining to gender, class and caste, sexuality, race, and economic liberalization in South Asia, as well as across South Asian communities in North America, U.K., and Africa. Examination of how complex relationships between Bollywood and transnational South Asian diasporas enable us to better understand South Asian American communities. P/NP or letter grading.
