Survey of literature, theater, cinema, television, press, music, and arts. Emphasis on contemporary period, with constant reference to Russian and early Soviet antecedents. Weekly discussions focus on varied approaches to writing addressing class topics. Five short papers required. Satisfies Writing II requirement. Letter grading.
