Language and Social Organization through Life Cycle
Lecture, three hours. Requisite: course 4. Examination of forms of participation and talk-in-interaction across various phases of life cycle from birth to old age, using videotaped interactions of naturally occurring activities. How language and interaction within specific contexts are used to constitute identity and how interaction order resulting from face-to-face interaction provides building blocks for larger formations that arise from such activities. P/NP or letter grading.
