Pathophysiology of Cardiovascular Diseases

Lecture, four hours. Requisite: course 111B. Exploration of function of cardiovascular system and how cardiovascular disease develops during the lifespan. Emphasis on molecular and cellular mechanisms that mediate chronic diseases such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. Includes current clinical interventions for treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease emphasizing lifestyle modifications. Letter grading.
