Dr. Pham is great! He offers a lot of excess units and you will be fine if you follow up with the lectures and class materials.

Pham is a really good instructor and provides a lot of good resources. As long as you focus in lecture and do the practice midterms, you should be okay. A lot of the hard part is understanding all the reactions and knowing them well enough to apply them in synthesis problems, but I got a 99% in the class so it is doable.

He's very good at giving examples during lectures to help us with the conceptual understanding part of the class. Although this class isn't centralized around memorization, there is a bit involved when it comes to remembering which reagents to use. Don't put too much emphasis on memorization, but it would definitely help you a lot during the exam when it comes to building reactions during the exam (because you're timed). Do all the reviwes and problem sets because they are a perfect representation of what the exam will look like.

This class is a lot of information. It is very hard but Pham teaches it the best possible. Class is well organized and based on memorizing and understanding mechanisms

Pham is a great professor, his lectures are clear and structured well. His tests can be hard, but if you do all the review material possible then it's very achievable to do well on the midterms and finals. Finally, he offers a lot of extra credit to help bump your grade.

Of course, being organic chemistry, this class is quite challenging. At the time that I took it, it was one of the most difficult classes I had ever taken. However, Dr. Pham and the TA office hours were typically really helpful, not only because they could answer any questions, but also because making friends in this class REALLY helps.
I think that Dr. Pham presents information really well, but he can be quite condescending to students... This is just his personality and it's nothing about you! Overall, I think that, if you really understand the material front to back the way Pham wants you to, then you'll do great on the exams, as they really underscore not only the memorization portion but also contain lots of higher-level application of material to the problems being asked.
Overall, I did as well as I could have hoped for, but that grade definitely had lots of work behind it. In this class, I think that the amount you put in is pretty linearly related to how well you do.

o-chem 2 can be a difficult class. the prof has helpful slides and attending lecture is a good way to make sure you are on top of things. there is a lot of understanding & memorization based learning. the worksheets are good practice.

Dr. Pham is the best professor to take Chem 14D with! Ochem is hard, but he offered many extra credit opportunities and really cared about us succeeding.

It was a fair class and Pham is a good professor. If you regularly attend lecture and put in enough time outside of class doing practice problems, you will be fine.
