Professor was extremely organized and was well-versed in the content. Any questions that were asked could be answered but a lot of the times he wanted students to figure it out themselves, which felt condescending at times. Extremely helpful to go to discussion sections since TAs give review content to prepare for the midterm and the discussion worksheets were extremely useful in applying the content learned in lectures. Would recommend spamming practice problems until you know the mechanisms like the back of your hand.
The class was very enjoyable and engaging
He was great and relatable. He offered a lot of insight and gave a lot of examples/analogies when explaining chem mechanisms. He was overall good!
Organic Chem is going to be hard no matter what, but Pham had super clear presentations and really didn't throw any like curve balls on exams or include material that he didn't cover in lecture.
Dr. Pham is an amazing lecturer and an even better human being. His lectures are very organized and, if you stay on top of your problem sets, you will do great in the class. Dr. Pham and the TAs and the LAs provide students with every tool to succeed.
This was definitely one of the hardest courses I have taken. Very dense and difficult material, with a lot of memorization required. Pham was also a little condescending at times, and I felt judged for my questions and confusions at office hours. He was a very good professor though, and I felt like he explained course concepts clearly.
Loved it. There’s a lot of extra help during the week can help you easily understand the material. Pham also gives lots of extra credits.
Pham was definitely passionate about chemistry, but felt very condescending towards students, and made ppl feel stupid for asking questions, etc. The exams were pretty difficult and the class is not curved, but if you study really hard and make sure dedicate hours to memorizing all the reactions and reagents, you should be able to get an A. He DOES NOT POST ANY PRACTICE EXAMS and gives almost no resources, so make sure to use ALL the practice materials the TA's give you. I would have failed if not for the TAs.
Professor Pham is amazing. I thought he explained concepts in a really clear way. It helps to review the previous lecture before the next to follow along better, as there is a lot of content. Also, it's good to start the problem sets as soon as you can, so you have more time to ask TAs or the professor help. The TA office hours were a really helpful resource for me. Their worksheets also provided great practice for the exams.
Great professor and very helpful! Lectures were recorded and slides were posted. There are problem sets due every other week.
