The class was fully asynchronous with pre-recorded lectures by Professor Trice, and it was extremely organized. I personally like the asynchronous format because I could watch the films at my own pace. I took the class for film minor and it also satisfies GE requirements. The course load is not light since there are 2-3 quizzes per week, discussion posts, plus films and readings which take time. However, if you put in some work you're likely to get an A. I recommend anyone who's interested in films to take the class!
This class was amazing! There were no exams, just weekly quizzes, projects, movie screenings, and discussion posts to make sure that we were staying on track. All of the professor's lectures were well organized and her selection of films were very interesting. Would definitely take it again.
This class is an easy A if you put in the effort to finish its assignments. Although there are many positive reviews and a high A grade percentage, you still have to watch the films and lectures in order to take the quizzes and write the discussion posts. Some TAs may grade harsher than others, so make sure to thoroughly write your responses and stay on top of your game. Overall, take this class if you're willing to learn about its content (it's very interesting!), but don't take it if you're expecting to receive an easy A with no effort.
Back when I took it, many people thought it was too much of a course load for summer, but I thought that it was pretty manageable. There's some fun projects here and there in this course. To be honest, you don't need to watch all the movies or fully pay attention in order to pass this class. Just make sure you keep up with the deadlines -- it is only 6 weeks long, after all.
Overall pretty straightforward class, she counts attendance and the readings are helpful to understand course concepts but you can skim them
Great class! But it is a GE, so be prepared for a lot of busy work outside of the lectures.
One of the easier GE's. As long as you pace yourself and keep on top of the requirements this won't feel like an extra class. Workload is very light.
this was a great and easy class for if you want credits or a film minor- it was all asynchronous and pre-recorded with movies and lectures.
Good class to take asynchronous. We watched some fun films, some boring ones, but overall nice good easy GE
