Huang was not a great lecturer but his slides were pretty organized. He had very specific problems that you could focus studying on and the exams may not be that bad. Practice doing the problems is key.
Not good lectures, TA makes or breaks your grade. Make concise study/cheat sheets.
Huang was a fair professor as far as grading and presenting what to expect for exams. I believe I could have gotten an A with a little bit more practice,
Professor has a hard to understand accent but if you do a lot of practice exams, it's an easy A. You might not actually learn much though but it's the equivalent of AP Physics 1A
the instructor is super nice and lenient if you show that you're putting effort! the lab is honestly not even difficult enough to be considered a lab IMO (compared to chem labs) and the discussion is really helpful as the TAs are really passionate and knowledgable. if you took AP Physics, it's mostly review and the professor teaches just fine if you actually attend the lectures.
This class was fairly difficult compared to the other professors and I would take it with someone else if possible. I had not taken physics in high school, but even those who did were struggling, and our tests were consistently more difficult than the other classes. I am now in 5B with a different professor and the material feels far easier and the midterms are much fairer, so I do not think it is the series as a whole that is the issue. His class included two midterms and a final, and he stated that his goal was for only 30% of the class to get an A- or above, and if we did too well on the first midterm that he would make the following tests more difficult. Would not recommend unless there is no alternative.
He is known as one of the harder professors for 5A and I agree. It was a hard class but his practice tests were helpful.
