Final was made online and all exams were group exams which made it a lot easier.
Mettler is... an interesting professor. This class was an interesting journey, but overall doable as you can just follow the slides posted on the assignments, which are generally graded pretty leniently. You can get a lot of partial credit (even on multiple choice questions). Lectures can be good but he often gets sidetracked or forgets what he puts in his slides. It seemed like there were some stuff he didn't really know how to explain it at all or just said it was not his area of cognitive science. Overall he is pretty interested in the subject though, I guess. Also he is nice and let us have a pizza party at the end of the quarter :)
The assignments were "quizzes"/free response answers that you can work on with a group. Exams are solo and closed note though, but generally the questions were more general/about one key term. Final was cancelled partially because of the TA strike and partially because students asked for it; it was turned into a take-home quiz instead. (similar format to the group quizzes but longer like the exam). I went to TA office hours for the assignments and it was helpful, but the TA also didn't really know what was wanted out of the assignments. EC included sona studies
as long as you study/prepare for the course materials, you'll do alright on exams, since they grade ~very~ leniently on the multiple choice questions. professor is nice, though he sometimes gets lost in lecture-- overall solid course, but you'll have to do most of your studying on your own
Dr. Mettler was pretty understanding that the material could be dense and emphasized that if you put in any semblance of effort you'd get an A. He was right. He wasn't really the best at explaining some concepts and at times he wasn't clear but the group quizzes were similar to the midterm. Overall he was okay but was very generous in his grading in my opinion. I didn't take notes because he went fast but he recorded audio lectures and it was helpful.
