When I took the class, there was 3 paper critiques (each worth 20%) and minilabs (worth 10%), and a final paper. Minilabs were really easy and only took less than 30 minutes. Paper critiques were pretty easy, just make sure to pay attention in discussion on what to look for. There is a lot of extra credit opportunities offered by participating in SONA labs too, where you can earn 3% or more extra credit for the class. Overall, lecture material is not that hard if you pay attention, and discussion was not mandatory when I took it.
The paper critiques were graded very harshly but definitely passable.
