I loved 7C with Esdin, it was my favorite class out of the ls7 series for sure. He was super sweet and gave us extra credit by doing corrections on our midterm
If you are reading this review, you have probably already taken the other two classes in the 7 series and this class is pretty much exactly the same. The material itself focuses on many new topics regarding human body systems, but also reviews a lot of 7A material. The overall workload is the exact same, but the dreaded wording on the exams make the exams harder than they need to be. People tend to do pretty poorly on the first midterm, but the second midterm and final went much better. Overall, it is not a difficult class, try to review clicker questions, discussion worksheets, and practice exam questions before exams though. There is also a good bit of easy extra credit given throughout the quarter. Esdin himself is a great lecturer who loves to throw in jokes every now and then. He's clear and concise as well.
Good prof, explanations clear for the most part, but exam questions for this class were not very clear. You can know content but be tripped up by way they ask question, so that is something to be aware of.
Tests were not fair. Homework was not bad
Esdin was a really clear and engaging professor—would highly reccommend taking the class with him. Focus on the learning objectives (make a quizlet with them!) and don't spend too much time on launchpad.
Class was the hardest of the 7 series for sure. Quite difficult material, very hard first midterm, easier second midterm. Final extremely hard. Plenty of resources, just so much to know that it's overwhelming. Managed an A, but had to work super hard to do so, much harder than the other classes.
Class content is virtually unrelated to exams. Lectures have the potential to be hepful, but this secific professor is so condescending and sarcastic. Literally 75% of the class will get the iClicker question wrong. First of all, everyone got it wrong because he loves to ask the iclickers with no context... we've never talked about any of the content before and boom, iclicker questiona bout it. its ridiculous honestly and im not convinced the professor even knows what the content of the class is (including exams). So even after everyone gets the question wrong he would just say "ok i see you guys forgot about your homework this weekend" or "im proud of the 25% who got it right" and its very condescending. he comes from a place of humor, but its not the time to be joking every single lecture, its unprofessional. Exams were so hard to understand the question most peope end up guessing on the questions. Somehow i got an A- in the class but i think he secretly curved everyone at the end because we all calculated our grades by hand before the exam and there was no way we couldve gotten such a high grade (for example, i was anticipating that WITH a B on the exam I would get a B+ in the class, but i definitely got much lower than a B on the final (i got a C on the first midterm), yet my grade was an A-).
Great lecturer and always professional. Tests are long and have rather tricky questions but there is enough of them to offset the points lost.
7C is probably the most interesting class out of the 7 series, but also the most difficult. The content is very dense and the class is very fast-paced. The midterms and final are pretty hard, but if you study you should be fine. I also found that the first midterm was the most difficult out of the 3 tests, but that could be just me getting used to the way the class is structured.
My recommendation for this class is to not slack off or get behind on anything. If you don't understand a concept, definitely try to figure it out as fast as possible. Per usual, 7C exams were difficult but I found them more doable than 7B since 7B felt more abstract. To prepare for exams, I suggest annotating diagrams, especially the ones they provide you in lecture. If you know all the components of the diagrams like the back of your hand, it'll be much easier to perform better on exams. You don't necessarily need to spend a lot of time on the textbook because they often include extra unnecessary details. I recommend watching YouTube videos that explain different systems really well and in much more straightforward terms.
